Hy everybody! I'm quite interested to talk with everybody could be interested in total mind power, personal magnetism, fascination, personal development, and hypnotize somebody without words using just the gaze. ... I'd like to share and talk with you about this very powerful methods and ancient rediscovered thecniques for enhancing inner potentials. Here is a short transated excerpt from the manual of dr. Paret (original in italian) to help you to understand what I'm referring about. "True Mesmerism is completely different from modern hypnosis. Mesmerism is the Western school corresponding to the use of Prana or Ki (Chi) in Orient. If you do NLP, Hypnosis, or other techniques for uncovering people's potentials you will be amazed at what you can do using also these methods. Why? Modern Hypnosis is derived from the work of Braid. Braid cut off with the preceding tradition. This ancient tradition is connected to the treasures contained in true alchemy, magnetism, and in the ancient european traditions." I'm very excited about because in Dr.Paret's courses I learned many practical, very powerful exercises, using eye gaze and the right use of energy. I used them also in my business with success (at least with my clients it works very well). Hope you have questions about, I hope to be useful with my knowledge and experiences.

Actually, I am interested in knowing more technical information about Mesmer's work. As a student of Yi Jin Jing Chi Kung, I'm very interested in synthesizing my experience of chi with my growing knowledge of hypnosis. If you could please direct me to a good source of information, I would appreciate that!

Do you believe that Mesmer had anything to do with hypnosis? If so, would you please explain your reasoning to all of us?
Mesmer has been somewhat of a fascination for our Moderator, Don, from a historical viewpoint and not a hypnotic viewpoint.
Stay well,
Pood :)

A gaze is not even needed, as this can be done at a distanc.

If one considers tying someone to a tree with a lightening rod or having a huge round wooden tub with a few people in it and some water and rods then there is chi? The only chi I can find in the above is the air, humans, tree and the water. If you really want to study energy work may I suggest Kundalini Reiki. Acupuncture also is a type of energy work in that it releases energy blockages. Some people believe wearing magnets will heal them. They are only beliefs and as such are very much subject to change.
I'm so glad you enjoyed your class. What you do say is true. What the mind expects to happen will happen or as Houston has written here "Energy flows where attention goes". You seem to have used more than sufficient of ours.
Actually it was Benjamin Franklin who wrote: "This fellow Mesmer is not flowing anything from his hands that I can see. Therefore, this mesmerism must be a fraud." From 1795 to 1985 the idea of "enegy" as a healing art form was left out of mainstream Western medicine and psychology. The only thing that Braid noticed was the eyes following the hands would stay in a fixed position (known today as the Mesmeric pass).
Actually Braid is most well known for coining the term for the eye fixation as neuro-hypnosis and decided mesmerism did not involve energy transfer. In 1845 he wrote his book called Neurypnology -- later he decided hypnosis was not the correct word so changed it to monodeaism which wasn't any better than neurypnology so we ended up with the word hypnosis. Enough history for the remainder of the month!!
The Sanskrit word prana may be translated as "absolute energy" and in Chinese and Japanese realms this universal life energy is called chi, ki or qi. And this has to do with Animal Magnetism?????

I'm a big believer in that: where attention goes, energy flows.
Mesmerism is a fascinating topic, and much more closely related to energy work like reiki than it is to hypnosis. I wish I could have danced around in his vats or been connected to one of his trees...sound like a great party for all. :)

Everyone has the right to an opinion, even when it differs from mine...;)
I confess, I would love to see the wooden tub he built, his feathered hat to wear while chanting, or the tree to which he has attached the lightening rod... I notice that he did not tell us which of these worked for his so called clients that he claims to have had success with. Nor did he tell us how he was trained besides reading a book written in Italian...
Sadly, I suspect we are once again victims of a troll.....
Indeed, I did think it was an attempt at advertising. However I deleted the links and let the post stay as I thought it might open an interesting thread.

100% with Don in that it was an advertising ploy. I would have liked to have read the link tho so I could really be a mean ol' dawg and bite someone's legs. So much for the history lesson, huh?
