Hello anyone who has researched this fully.

I am told that Wm. James original intention when he wrote "a string of bead-like sensations..." was not intended to be a reference to support Tad's contention that a string of emotional events tend to be connected like pearls on a necklace. Apologies if this has been discussed. I am new to the group.

SEE are Significant Emotional Events. These are events that occur in all lives that we either don't know what to do about or have no experience in handling. SEEs usually are an offshoot of the First Cause negative emotion that the therapist is assisting the client to remove.

Having used TLT for some time and with many clients, it has been my experience that as the client is coming back from the First Event, s/he stops along the way to release the emotions for each SEE. I can see that happening using the visual acuity we all learned in our trainings. The beauty, at least to me, is that the therapist does not have to be privy to such events. It is only important that the client be there and release the emotions. When we see large releases of negative emotion, it works to tell the client (as Tad suggests) - "Wow, that was a big one!" The client, almost without exception, will say "Yeah!!" After releasing the negative emotions from the SEE, many client has said that they experienced a new feeling of lightness and calm.
