View Full Version : Avoiding confusion in TLT process

Hello all.

In my short experience with TLT, there has been a common problem that all my subjects have encountered when returning to the present and I'd like your thoughts on my suggestion to overcome this.

In final part of the process, I ask the client to "return to now, only as quickly as you can let go of all the XXXX on the events all the way back to now. Assume position 3 with each subsequent event, preserve the learnings and let go of all the XXX."

In training, it was explained to us that our unconscious mind, by processing at the speed of light, will recall every event in our life with regards to the particular emotion (though we can't consciously recall each one) and will preserve the learnings necessary. We were also informed that we won't be consciously aware of what we are learning or when to come back to the room. Instead, our unconscious will bring us back when it's ready (typically this was anythng from 3 to 15 seconds).

As this was detailed to us, no one had any problems completing the instructions. With my subjects though, they haven't benefitted from the prior explanation and are just takendirect into the procedure.
Each one consciously tried to recall each event. Some can only recall 2 or 3 and, as they are watching these few events, try to consciously figure out what they are meant to learn and take an age as they don't cosnciously know what they are looking for. As a result, they struggle with the procedure.

My solution is to give them a brief explanation before we undergo the process. This will allow me to pictorially illustrate each position - as some forgot what position 2 is, for example.
Furthermore, it will allow me to explain the unconscious process. That is to say, explain that they are to assume position 3 with every event from that first event to the present, that they won't consciously be aware of each one nor the learnings and that they will know when to return to the room as it will feel that the time is right - even though they won't be consciously aware of any learnings.

This makes sense to me. It is what I was given on the training and will give the client an understanding of the process - rather than pitching them direct into the procedure.

Would you say this is a good idea? How do you prepare your clients for the TLT scripts so that they know what is required of them? Have you had the same problems of the client not understanding the process of assuming position 3 with every event in their life and if so, how did you ovecome it?

Thx

Yes.

Personally, I don't use the labels of 'position 1', 'position 2' etc.
I simply ask the person th move to x minutes before the event, or to a position during the event, etc.

Also, a person really doesn't have to assume the various positions as they return to now.
As they move along their timeline they will naturally be before an event before reaching the event.
That's just the nature of timeline travel.

>it was explained to us that our unconscious mind, by processing at the speed of light,

It doesn't really. The 'speed of light' is just to say it's done quickly.

"return to now, only as quickly as you can let go of all the XXXX on the events all the way back to now. Assume position 3 with each subsequent event, preserve the learnings and let go of all the XXX."

"Having let go of XXXX you can now know that it has been let go from all the events between then and now, only visiting those subsequent events where there may be new learnings to preserve, or if you wish to confirm that XXXX has been let go."

Confirming that it has been let go allows them to fill their convincer strategy without it necessarily being defined.

Ice,

I will often say something like, "In returning quickly to now, I want you to honestly and thouroughly release, or let go .... on all the events necessary. And if you feel the need to 'wake up' before you are completely done, or if you wish to revisit so you can be sure you have released everything you need to, you can feel free either continue to process this unconsciously, or to complete it tonight as you sleep and dream ..."

If I am understanding the question completely or even correctly, position 3 is only used for the emotions -- it's the drop down through technique or the reverse image of the way the emotion is held in "now". What happens is that this position acts like anti-matter, and the neurological boundaries of the emotion in the body get blown out -- they disappear (are removed). One word of caution is to ALWAYS CHECK THE ECOLOGY!!! After being future paced and it's okay...say "GOOD, come back to now." If the emotion does not disappear, then reframe.

It has been my experience that the time it takes for each person to return to NOW from the event (whether a negative emotion or limiting decision) is all over the board. I have had clients that took less time than the instructions to "come back" and have taken up to 15 minutes. Using visual acuity, I can see each time they reach a critical S.E.E and resolve the emotions of that event. I always use the numbers for positions because I have found that it is easier for the client to build the pictures, or create the sounds, or feelings when there are certain parameters built. My additional experience with TLT is that it always works if you give the client enough reframes. Another observation has been that some of the S.E.E. are remembered by the client when he/she returns to now and some aren't. Finally, always future test, because even if they say that all the emotions are gone, often they are not and you have to go back to experiences further in the past. Whew. Thanks for your attention.
