Hello all.
In my short experience with TLT, there has been a common problem that all my subjects have encountered when returning to the present and I'd like your thoughts on my suggestion to overcome this.
In final part of the process, I ask the client to "return to now, only as quickly as you can let go of all the XXXX on the events all the way back to now. Assume position 3 with each subsequent event, preserve the learnings and let go of all the XXX."
In training, it was explained to us that our unconscious mind, by processing at the speed of light, will recall every event in our life with regards to the particular emotion (though we can't consciously recall each one) and will preserve the learnings necessary. We were also informed that we won't be consciously aware of what we are learning or when to come back to the room. Instead, our unconscious will bring us back when it's ready (typically this was anythng from 3 to 15 seconds).
As this was detailed to us, no one had any problems completing the instructions. With my subjects though, they haven't benefitted from the prior explanation and are just takendirect into the procedure.
Each one consciously tried to recall each event. Some can only recall 2 or 3 and, as they are watching these few events, try to consciously figure out what they are meant to learn and take an age as they don't cosnciously know what they are looking for. As a result, they struggle with the procedure.
My solution is to give them a brief explanation before we undergo the process. This will allow me to pictorially illustrate each position - as some forgot what position 2 is, for example.
Furthermore, it will allow me to explain the unconscious process. That is to say, explain that they are to assume position 3 with every event from that first event to the present, that they won't consciously be aware of each one nor the learnings and that they will know when to return to the room as it will feel that the time is right - even though they won't be consciously aware of any learnings.
This makes sense to me. It is what I was given on the training and will give the client an understanding of the process - rather than pitching them direct into the procedure.
Would you say this is a good idea? How do you prepare your clients for the TLT scripts so that they know what is required of them? Have you had the same problems of the client not understanding the process of assuming position 3 with every event in their life and if so, how did you ovecome it?
Thx
