Hello,
I have been divorced for almost 8 yrs and still havent gotten over the pain and I still have problems with the fact that my ex has moved on (new house/boat/girlfriend etc) . I WANT to move on ( I have dated and had several relationships since)but I just cant move on. It doesnt make sense to me why I cant. I get thrown into deep depression when I know he is out with her, or when my kids are with them.
I have been to therapy and they say I must get some satisfaction with the pain I have but I truly cant figure it out.

Would NPL or hypnotherapy work?
I have considered giving up custody of my 2 children that I love soo much just so I can move away and not deal with him. He is not nasty, and he has no problem dealing with me as he has no emotional attachement left to me.
I really need advise... as many times this has put me to the end of my ropes.

thaNKs!

Probably yes. But would depend mostly on what you mean by 'work'

Great! I really am not sure about the differences so I am not sure which would best fit this situation. Does a hypnotherapist use NLP or would that be a different person with different training? (I did quit smoking with hypnosis years ago so I think that works well with me)

thanks!

Hypnosis and NLP are linked certainly

As you have experienced Hypnosis before, you have some idea about how you might feel in an altered state......or seeing a traditional Hypnotherapist who is employing what we call 'formal trance induction'

this can be progressive relaxation and suggestions

BUT hypnotherapy can take many forms.........you might not even be guided into traditional trance......you might smply have a conversation with a skilled hypnotherapist and just by them talking to you and using various interventions, you might get the relief you seek

This is where NLP and Hypnosis probably overlap the most.

NLP is beyond my powers to articulate well but Hypnotic language patterns are often employed. There was a fantastically skilled communicator called Milton Erickson who was an MD and Hypnotherapist (he wouldn't probably have called himself such but he employed the power of his communication skills so effectively that he produced 'miraculous' results)

Richard Bandler and John Grinder, the Co Developers of NLP studied Erickson and made a model of his communication skills that they then went on and taught and installed in other people. NLP is about being able to take a skill that somebody else has.........study it.......model it and then teach that skill to another person

(a GROSS over simplification of the methodology but it will do for now and explains how Hypnosis and NLP are linked)

Anyway, seeing that DR ERICKSON was one of the frst people modelled by Bandler and Grinder and how he was possibly the world's foremost medical hypnotist.....it is obvious that NLP and Hypnosis (both deal with communicating ideas) are linked

Good luck

I cannot help in any other way but I am sure that some of the lovely people on here will be able to put you in touch with a body or professional organisation that can refer you to a qualified and competent practioner

again

Good Luck

Which is best (NLP or Hypnosis) is more dependant on the skill of the practitioner than the tools she uses.
