I have been assuming when you go into trance and are suppose to imagine something, it's like a dream in that all of your "conscious" is in that dream and you think that's the only reality your in. Is it the same with a hypnotic trance? Or does it feel more like a day dream when you know your awake but have a picture of another reality and feel like your in both realities? And for example, if your suppose to believe your tounge is expanding (from a convincer) do you actually feel your tounge taking up more space inside your mouth?

No, A hypnotic trance does not require imagining anything.

If it is suggested that your tongue is expanding (a bad suggestion by the way) that would be a
‘hallucination’ and if you were hypnotised, then you would feel as if your tongue was enlarged,
and likely start gaging/choking.

I know it's not required to make the client imagine something, but say I wanted them to travel to some place they enjoy, say hawaii, would they feel like they are at hawaii yet hear a voice guiding them, feel like they are at hawaii and not hear a voice but their sub conscious would and it would direct them behind the scenes, or feel like they are both at hawaii and on the chair where they were hypnotized? And why would making someones tounge expand be bad :p ?

The answer to your questions would depend on the depth of hypnosis and what the specific suggestions are.
As for the tongue, like I said, they'd start gaging and choking.

I'm no hypnotist, but I'm sure in some types of hypnotism, people are asked to see their problem as a dream, and explain their dream.

Spoken as a true psycho-babblist would.
