What strategies do people use (anyone) to deliver embedded commands? I.e. in conversational contexts. e.g. I might want to try and gain some assent from an individual or group on a particular argument they cannot grasp they subtlety of. I can make this clearer, of course, though I want to make my argument as compelling as possible, establish rapport etc. I could have a string of sentences with embedded commands rehearsed, though these might not be appropriate in every context - so are there any tips people have to generate embedded commands on the spot so to speak.... or is it something that just comes naturally after a lot of practice?

I think of the main points I want to get across before I speak, then quickly think of appropriate embedded words/phrases, then slot them in ( & of course use different voice tonality for them ). The more you practise the easier it becomes. Practising conversations in your head can be useful as well ( sort of conversational future-pacing ). And if you make self-hypnosis tapes for yourself, you can put lots of embedded commands in, and that will also be more practise for you.

I understand how you might BE INTERESTED in embedded commands, and what value they will have for you, and if you really PAY ATTENTION to what I am saying, you can start to realise that LANGUAGE IS FASCINATING, is it not, in terms of all of the different ways that you can learn to USE LANGUAGE MORE AND MORE EFFECTIVELY, and yet at the same time BE RESPECTFUL towards other people, and especially to REALLY ENJOY YOURSELF. NOW, I hope what I have said is useful.

stuck youre hand right there?!?!?!
STICK youre hand right there.
it would work just the same. unless you were doing it to confuse.
I usually find it harder to think of embedded commands before hand.
they seem to sound less scripted if you think of them on the spot.

Solaris,

Someone could, but it probably would not be of as much benifit to you, as if you were to do something for yourself.

Write down a list of 'suggestions', make them affirmative, not negative, in nature and keep them short phrases.

Relax deeply, change now, go deeper, feeling heavy, buy now :), want this, whatever.

Then start telling something, a story, or a set of instructions, or directions, or just talking about the weather, and weave into it the phrases.

*By now*, I was *feeling heavy*, and since I was going to *go deeper* into this, I decided to *change. Now* I felt different I wanted to *relax deeply*, and it felt so good I just knew, "I *want this*."

Now that had no particular rhyme or reason to it, but it becomes very quickly obvious how easily you can weave into conversation commands that you can then analogue mark. Thus making them embedded commands.

Write out sheets of this, until it is easy, then fill out sheets with a particular goal in mind. Relaxing someone, making someone feel good, getting them to move in some way. Whatever.

Do this, and your unconscious will begin to recognize the phrases you use in everyday speech, and begin to mark them out automatically. You wont even have to think about it.

Then you go out into the 'real world' and set an outcome and enjoy watching your unconscious work towards achieving that outcome using embedded commands, that flow smoothly and naturally from your speech.

There is a bit of controversy over embedded commands. Some people say they dont work well. I tend to think this is because they arent being used skillfully. The proof will be in the doing. You have a whole world out there, where you can leave people feeling better that you found them, and sharpen your skills too.
