I was just wondering this because my friends dog barks and barks at me and hes seen my for over 7 months, and is there a way to hypnotize a dog? Is there a way i can hypnotize it not to bark at me anymore? If anyone could help me that would be great!

Hi,
As you may know, animals are astoundingly more perceptive than vastly most humans ! They, along with plants, have been Scientifically found capacle of *Accurately reading a person's thoughts* ! -
(usually, most dogs are jumping all over me wanting to play ! Cooper may well decide afterwards : "Skip ?, who's that" ... just kidding, lol)
What sorts of thoughts do you entertain towards this dog as you approach her/him ?
Is his barking a fearful/threatening-kind of "stay away from me !" kind of communication ?,
or -
Will this dog, following such barking, allow you to *play with her/him* ?
Have you ever pondered questions like these before ?; iow, could it be possible that
*you* would benefit from being hypnotized, so - the dog will come to trust you, maybe ?
Annie
(btw, my daughter *enjoying Immense rapport* with Animal critters has created a Business helping people :
1. choose/buy *Compatible pets* and
2. Training both parties, and
3. Caring for them as well when their owners go on vacations .
She would be able to help you even better :) than I )

Hi again,
another possibility could be that the dog wants *All of your friend's Undivided-attention* so maybe if you're spending alot of time with your friend, the poor doggie may feel "ignored".
So,
do you think to approach *giving it positive attention, yourself* ? :)
Maybe you could give a few more details about this situation ...

Well The dog(minature pincher) seems sort of fearful of me. I try to pet it and it runs back and starts barking at me.
i think the problem may be is the dog was abused when it was little so it is probably hard for it to trust me.... would hypnosis do anything to help it trust me?

Hypnitising a dog is easy.
Trying to change a dog's behaviour isn't.

well what kind of hypnotizing(or hypnotizing scripts) can i use on a dog? Would a dog understand if i say something like "Close your eyes, and relax. when I count to 3 and snap my fingers, you will think you are a cat. 1....2.....3....*snap*."

Just use an instant induction.
Most dogs don't understand the language.

maybe if the dog was already asleep then you could whisper... and put the dog in a deeper level of relaxation...

Yes....But you couldn't afford the cost of the expert you would require to do this. My cost would be $1200.00 plus expenses, and I am considered to be very inexpensive for the special work I do. Communicating with animals is not easy, since they don't speak in return. Better to try offering it steak each time you visit, that would be much cheaper ...Terry
hi, ignore terry he is obviously too rich if he suggests giving the pooch steaks, it makes dogs viscious ...give the dog a little square of cheese...and talk to him as if he was a long lost pal...and when you get the chance fuss over him/her always watch a dogs/horses ears when you are unsure of them ...and if the ears go back...get out of there :p doug
Wow,
Give the dog cheese and you will get big green dog farts. But no worries, the dog doesnt mind, you will be gone, and the owners just have to contend with it. :)
Give the dog time, and recognize that it might be how you smell, or something that is completely unconnected with you. Cats are attracted to me because I dont like them, so even cats that dont cotten up to anyone, go out of their way, to come and rub themselves, all over me. It is because they know.
Let the dog smell you, and approach on its own, a treat offered might help but is also sometimes percieved with suspicion. If the dog wont come to you for a treat, then leave it on the floor and ignore the dog. Enough of your presence and the dog will eventually settle down, but Ill admit ome of those little bait dogs, just never do. Napoleon complex or something. Look at its body language, tail up = curiuous. Ears up = good, tail down, ears back; give the dog space.
A barking dog never bites.
You can never tell when a dog will stop barking.

i think all u guys r talkin rubbish mi dog puts his ears back when he is happy and the way to hipnotize him is to talk very jently to him and to slowly push him to the floor (if you talk carmly enough the dog will do this himself) then put a tea cloth or another form of cloth over his head and hel be asleep until you wake him or i loud noise does

Wow you ressurected a half dead thread, and posted something barely readable.
Right youve found a way to put him to sleep, that isn't hypnosis.

It's hard to believe I'm actually reading this stuff.
"Big green dog farts"?
Up until now I'd thought this was a respectable hypnosis community, populated by intelligent adults whose opinions carried some weight.
Now I begin to wonder whether you're all just high school kids horsing around on the internet.
Hypnotizing dogs!
If you have ever experienced big green dog farts, you would know just how serious they can be!
It is nice to know, in advance, that you checked your sense of humor at the door.
I appreciate the heads up.

I do wonder what test you use to determine it's hypnosis vs. sleep?

I didn't think it possible to be too rich. Oh yes, steak is not that expensive, and it doesn't cause problems for the dog as does liver for example. A diet of liver causes scury on a dog, while steak has no such bad effects. No I don't feed my dog steak, I save the extra cost, and donate to the poor of this city, I still value people over animals, though there are times when I wonder why.....Bet both Cooper and my own dog and cat are more affectionate than a lot of those who visit this board, and I know they are more intelligent.....

There you got Skip, we're busted again. I told you not to mention green farts didn't I? Now they know we are teens having fun instead of serious professionals. Mind you, I can't really blame you, we have no fun at all being serious when we reply to those bloody stupid questions as if the deserved our serious consideration..... Perhaps next time, you should let Cooper reply for you?...... I have given thought to letting "Lucky" my cat use the computer, but she preffers to sleep, or use her scratching post, to plinking on the keyboard. My dog preffers just sleeping under the desk at my feet, and farting from time to time, but not green farts, just smelly ones because of the steak I feed her (EG)....

Actually, my post was a subtle attempt at dry humor--a bit too subtle, it would appear. My apologies if it came across wrong!
I'm fully on board with humor in hypnosis. Hey, if you can't have fun with something as lighthearted and whimsical as helping people overcome the subconscious negative behavior patterns that have been ruining their lives since childhood, what *can* you have fun with?
Well then my apologies for misinterpreting.
And you are right, if we couldnt have fun here that would only leave ...

Ive been meaning to post this for some time now.
"Can you hypnotize a dog?"
Usually it is the other way around.
Cooper, my yellow lab, is often present when I see clients privately. He, as well as many other dogs, has an ability to reach a level of rapport with most people that is remarkable. He offers full attention, and is more often than not, accepted. People go straight into trance with him and I benifit from it and deepen and do my work, while they have a special moment.
Personally I think they like Cooper beter than me, most clients mention him in letters and phone calls.
I am just an accessory in my own hypnosis business!

oops .. click me (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3071373.stm)
MODERATOR'S NOTE:
Milton, it is NOT a good idea to put up a URL and simply call it "click me." Nor should people with Windows-based computers ever click on such links unless you are sure what you will find. People don't want to get viruses or other "malware" plopped on their machines or be directed to a porn site (well, some may want to be directed to a porn site, but that's another story!).
Mac users are currently immune to malware, and since I am a Mac user, I tried it. Milton's link only takes you to a page from the BBC which discusses alternative healing practices and pets. It is safe. I do not know how long it will stay posted.

Answer -- I really don't know. I do keep my Poodle with me at all times during work. After I start the trance he goes over to a corner and zonks out until I awaken the client. He is also a Reiki junkie. I don't know if he is hypnotized or if he just likes the soft tones of my voice.
