When using timeline I have been getting a little confused in the following area. Example - Once the client is above the timeline looking down on the event the my purpose is to elicit intention and gather learnings.
e.g "now go to position (A), so you can see the choice point below you. Ask your unconscious to communicate the intention for XXXXXXXXXX below."
Assuming the above XXXXXXX is the emotion i.e anger, sadness, fear etc the client asks "what do you mean?"
I then reply what's the intention of the emotion?
metaphor that the unconscious has presented?
When I think about intention behind the emotions and the purpose of chunking I can see how it can give freedom from the 'charge' . However, I have noticed on the odd occasions when I ask the question of intent and then "for what purpose" some confusion and slight irritation with the question - then 'HAPPINESS'. It seemed on occasion incongruent when they give that nominalisation (as if said because they don't fully understand the concept) though and although they still get the desired effect from the work i.e emotional release I am wondering about the way I am wording it.
Working content free makes it nice and clean but due to not knowing anything in relation to what's presented how would you work with intent?
Hope the question doesn't come across as dumb as I have been struggling to get my head around this aspect.
